I am a Breaking News Fellow for Insider, a graduate of the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Multiplatform Journalism from the Philip Merrill College of Journalism and a minor in creative writing, and a lover of all things news and digital media.
But you can read that on my resume.
Simply put, I am a writer, committed to sharing the most pressing stories with the world and a social media expert who is always scrolling to find the latest trends.
I spent a two-year stint as a reporter at HerMoney Media while serving as the executive assistant to Jean Chatzky. I covered personal finance news closely and published stories about the latest trends. I worked as a social media manager, juggling multiple accounts with weekly content creation and community management. I also became a pro at scheduling meetings, transcribing podcasts, and, generally, assisting both the team and the boss with whatever they need.
In the summer following graduation, I had the great opportunity to work for theSkimm as the editorial and content intern. I assisted the team with all things content. I aided in pitch meetings, did research for stories, wrote both website articles and branded content materials in in the brand's notable voice, and created social posts for the brand's platforms. I helped with a website redesign and became more familiar with CMS and coding.
At UMD, I was immersed in an intensive program that encouraged me to write daily and report on issues ranging from the latest on-campus trend to a pressing matter in the DC area. In the Fall 2018 semester, I was a Data Analytics and Social Media intern at Capital News Service in College Park, a Merrill College run news source engineered to give students the opportunity to explore a real-life newsroom.
I interned at THR.com in New York City in 2017 and freelanced for them until June 2019 by watching awards shows on my couch and posting stories as they were happening live on the screen. Truly a win-win situation.
During the Spring 2018 semester, I held an editorial internship at Baltimore STYLE magazine where I worked directly with the managing editor to publish long-form lifestyle news stories about happenings in the city.
I was the Vice President of Standards (think: enforcer of rules; mom) for Alpha Epsilon Phi, Alpha Mu Chapter for the 2016-2017 term.
I am a long-time sleepaway camper and spent summer 2018 in my favorite place in the world.
Other than that, you can find me binge-watching Netflix in my bed, exploring NYC, hustling to report a new story, or trying to find the perfect lighting for my latest attempt at a new TikTok dance.
